The Tacoma Home & Garden Show just wrapped its four day run and what a marvelous experience! There was something for just about everyone, from gardening, art, decorating, remodeling and all the latest home improvement trends for 2024.
Tiny buildings that can serve either as tiny homes, storage sheds or outbuildings were in abundance. But certainly not the dominating factor.
Gardening was big, tailored both for homeowners and renters. Gorgeous display gardens from Father Nature Landscapes, Olympic Landscaping and Nature Perfect Landscaping & Design showcased a plethora of design ideas. An expanded plant market gave show goers a cornucopia of options for the perfect purchase to take home. House plants were big, as well as drought tolerant and other resilient plants that can deal with the region’s changing climate.
Local artisans featured their wares, from paintings to pottery to glass art and jewelry, in an expansive marketplace.
Also on display were local live edge wood furniture and architectural accents, custom hydraulic lift artisan doors and more. Plus, kitchen remodelers such as ABS Countertops as well as heating and plumbing specialists (and more) Hunt’s Services, who provided free admission to the show on opening day. As well as the Lamb Sisters of HGTV’s Unsellable Houses.
Yes there were hot tubs too, but not an overwhelming number. Types of vendors and displays were well balanced. An especially interesting one was Softub Spas, which offers a portable soft sided hot tub suitable for renters and homeowners. They provided a beautiful display with their hot tub attractively enclosed in a wood structure that could easily be moved by a renter or homeowner, but beautiful enough to provide the ambiance of a permanent structure.
The overall emphasis on this year’s Tacoma Home & Garden Show was on local designs, local artists, local home improvement specialists, and local vendors.
