Locally Made Holiday Gifts for the Home

Seattle and the surrounding regions are home to some of the best local artisans in the country.  Whether your recipient rents or owns, there are a host of unique, locally made gifts for the home sure to please just about anyone on your holiday gift giving list.

Glass artists such as Cloud Cap Glass (http://www.cloudcapglass.com/) features hand blown decorative art and tableware by Seattle-based Richard Langley.  Items for sale include hand-blown cloud cap wine glasses with dragon stems.  Glass and base contain fine white threads (called mezza filigrana) that give the stemware an elegant, subdued look.  Father and Son Glass, also of Seattle, offers one of a kind glass art for the garden and home.  Created by the father and son team of Chris and Isaiah Scheulke, they offera variety of unique objects from which gift givers can choose, from hand-blown flower shaped glass fountains to swirled garden stakes.

If metal or wood is more to your liking, West Seattle-based Light Razor Design Studio offers handcrafted decorative aerium plant holders.  Available either as free hanging or surface resting, each plant holder is individually designed, then laser cut, engraved and assembled by the artist, Ryan Milles.  In addition to his plant holders, Milles offers hand-crafted earrings made from leather, wood or acrylic.

If you’re looking for even more gift ideas for the home, you can visit local holiday fairs and events such as the Artisans Holiday Fair in Snohomish County, and the Pacific Northwest Needle Arts Guild Holiday Fair featuring handmade fiber art in Seattle.  Both events are happening this weekend.
