Award-Winning Geodesic Dome Roof from Valentine Roofing Showcases the Latest in Roof Technology for the Pacific Northwest

In the Pacific Northwest, roofs can really take a beating with our wet and variable climate.  This unique geodesic dome roof project by Puget Sound-based Valentine Roofing showcases some of the latest design technology that also keeps roofs safe and sound in our challenging weather.

Located on a rural property in Snohomish County, the project involved replacing a geodesic dome shaped roof on a 1980s era home.  Known for their unique design features, geodesic roofs can enhance and expand the space of a home the way other roofs cannot.  However, with their multi-pitched angles, replacing them is not an easy project, and preventing them from leaks can be a challenge.

This roof replacement included multiple slope transitions and precise angle alignments.  The project required specialized techniques to accommodate the pitch variations while maintaining a uniform appearance across the dome.  Valentine Roofing handled the intricate facets and angles, using each row's careful measurements and meticulous alignment to ensure that every shingle fit seamlessly.

To enhance the design of the geodesic roof, Valentine Roofing used shingles that were specially formulated to capture bright, vibrant hues and dramatic shades that showcase the unique lines and shape of a geodesic dome home.  The shingles they chose (from Owens Corning Duration) featured multiple-granule colors along with shadowing to provide a distinct look that enhanced the shape of the dome while complimenting its surroundings.  Their design also complemented the dome's unique structure, ensuring functional and aesthetic excellence.

The design was so impressive that Valentine Roofing received the 2025 Excellence in Roofing Award from the Roofing Contractors Association of Washington (RCAW) .
